Last Wednesday following the Kirk Night meal, a collaborative art project took place in the NWPC Fellowship Hall.  This activity, hosted by the Fellowship Committee, brought members of the NWPC church family together for an evening of fun and creativity!

The activity commenced with a reading of the creation story from Genesis by our pastor, Ben Trawick.  Following, artists Carolina Finley and Laura Whitley began two works of art using different media.  Carolina started a watercolor by painting a large yellow sun and Laura began a pastel drawing by adding a mountain range.  All in attendance were then invited to contribute to either…or both! of the artworks as they reflected on the Scripture Ben read.

The result?  Two very different takes on the creation story.  The watercolor turned out to be a wild depiction of creation full of bright colors, bold strokes, and movement, while the pastel showed a more pastoral version with softer colors and great detail.  “It was very interesting to watch both pieces evolve,” said Carolina, “and interesting to see who was drawn to add to each of the works!“  “It was a lot of fun and I’m so glad people came out to participate! ” said Laura.

Thanks to everyone who participated in The Great Brush-Off!  And now, a view of the two finished pieces:

A album featuring several photos from the evening’s events is now posted on our church facebook page

and will soon be added to our photo display outside of the Fellowship Hall.

Thanks to Stephen Goetz for photographing the evening’s event!
