Kirk Night (Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m.)

Each Wednesday evening from September to May, our members gather for a catered fellowship meal ($5 for adults/teens and $2 for children under 12 with a cap of $20 per family) and program beginning at 5:30 pm. Because of varied work schedules, diners continue to drift in until 6 or 6:15.  At 6:15, we share announcements and prayer requests, ask a blessing upon the meal, and celebrate the week’s birthdays.  Some folks depart, while others choose to remain for the night’s program.

Programming begins at 6:30: young children participate in Kingdom Kids (a program of music and stories), middle and high school youth work with our award-winning puppet team or engage in a Bible study, and adults participate in programming which rotates among 6-8 week Bible studies, meetings of congregational committees, and special programs/speakers (see church calendar or click here for a pdf of the latest schedule).  Programs and meetings end by 7:30, and our adult handbell choir rehearses from  7:30-8:30.

Annual Picnic

Each Summer, on the last Sunday of August, our Church family gathers for a covered-dish picnic at the Finley Pond (in the rare event of a rainout, we retreat to the church fellowship hall).  The meal begins at 5 pm, but many folks arrive early and stay late just to enjoy the late-summer fun.  There is no program, just a lot of laughter.  Groups hike the nearby trails, climb on rocks, gather in clusters of blankets and chairs, and learn to duck when a frisbee interrupts the conversation!

Annual Retreat

On each labor day weekend, many of our members look forward to a congregational retreat at a nearby retreat center, lasting from Friday evening to Sunday lunch.   The retreat is a mixture of informal but informative Bible study/discussion sessions (Usually three 1.5-hour sessions divided into youth, adults, and a game or crafts activity for younger children) and a lot of unstructured time for friends and family to take a hike, work a puzzle, play a game, or nap in a rocking chair!  Highlights are inter-generational worship, a lot of trips to the snack table, and the kind of in-depth visiting that just doesn’t happen often enough these days!

Other Events

It’s good to watch the calendar!  The fellowship committee sponsors occasional events like movies on the lawn, new member receptions, or maybe an outing to a ball game.  It’s all in the name of friendship and fun, and everyone is always welcome!
